Year-round we thank the Suquamish Tribe for their generous participation and genuine friendship in the region and to the community in the Piper’s Creek Watershed.
And at this time every year, CWCAP and volunteers go to Grovers Creek Salmon Hatchery to pick up 20-30,000 salmon eggs provided to our salmon programs.
Eggs donated by the Suquamish Tribe’s Grovers Creek Salmon Hatchery are placed in incubators at Carkeek Park where they will hatch and eventually self-release into Venema Creek.
At the same time, 29 schools in the Salmon in the Schools program will get 200 salmon eggs each to hatch, feed, and study in their own chilled 55 gallon habitats for eventual release into Venema Creek.
The fall salmon run just ended in early December, but stay tuned because you’ll want to hear how this story continues!
