We will be holding our last Salmon Walk of the season in Carkeek Park prior to the release of our last batch of salmon for the season. These are the approximately 4,000 fry that were raised from eggs by 21 schools as part of the Salmon in the Schools – Seattle (SISS) program.
We will be hosting pre-walk activities (salmon hat making and feeding the fry) from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. These activities will continue until about 8:00pm for those not on the walk.
The walk will start at 6:30pm at the imprint pond. The walk is suitable for all ages and abilities as it will be along level trails with only a few bumps and uneven areas. The walk will take us along Venema and Piper’s Creek down to the beaver dam and back to the pond at 7:30pm.
We will be releasing the salmon shortly after 8pm.
The walk will be limited to the first 25 people that register. If you register, but later realize you cannot make it, please let us know.
There is no charge for this event. We do gladly accept donations to the Carkeek Watershed Community Action Project. We are an all-volunteer 501.c.3. www.carkeekwatershed.org
