On March 21st, we received 16,500 chum salmon fry from the Suquamish Tribe hatchery on Grover’s Creek. The fry are eating well and growing. Volunteers feed the fry 5 times a day, seven days a week.
If you see the “Feeding Salmon Fry” sign up by the side of the road at the bottom of the hill after entering the park, the pond is open.
Volunteers open the pond for 30-60 minutes during each of these time periods to make it easier for the public to know when the pond will be open.
Early Morning – 7:30am – 8:30am
Late Morning – 10:00am – 11:00am
Mid-Day – 12:30pm – 1:30pm
Afternoon – 3:00pm – 4:00pm
Evening – 5:30pm – 6:30pm
We will be releasing this batch of fry at 8pm on Friday, April 26th. So come and see them before they head out to the Sound.
