11-18-2025 Salmon Survey Update

The numbers of salmon in Carkeek Park have spiked significantly in the last week. Over 180 salmon were spotted on Tuesday with spawning activity happening throughout Piper’s Creek. The sustained rains likely helped bring in more fish and allowed them to travel further upstream. Several salmon have even reached Venema Creek up near the imprint pond. It’s a great time to head down to the park to see salmon at many of the popular viewing points. Mid November is typically the peak of live salmon at Carkeek so make sure to get down there soon. In several weeks the streams will look (and smell) very different.

This year overcame a slow start and is now near what we would consider a normal sized salmon return for Carkeek Park. Thanks volunteers for collecting this data!
